SOUTH 44
SOUTH 44 was published in October 2011.
A F Paterson is the featured poet in SOUTH 44. Dave Wood has written a profile of Alex and made a selection of her poems. Dave writes "Alex is an observer; she conveys the necessary without the need to condense or peel back." "Alex's poems are 'just is' moments; long matured then ready to bite."
A taster poem appears below.
DECEMBER SNOW
It was friendly at first, snuffling over boots
and blending gently into socks,
co-operating to make statues and igloss.
Then it had a change of surface
each footstep a crunch of a crisp, a bitten cracker:
its new skin sparkled as if glitter-sprinkled.
In the end it became ruthless as glass
sliding cars and skidding cyclists,
taking no footprints, out to save only itself.
